April 22 at 6:30 p.m. Widely regarded as Indonesia's greatest living writer, Pramoedya Ananta Toer is frequented cited as a candidate for the Nobel Prize for literature. The author of more than thirty works of fiction and nonfiction which have been translated into many languages, Pramoedya received the PEN Freedom-to-Write Award in 1988 and the Raymond Magsaysay Award in 1995. This will be Pramoedya's first visit to the United States and marks the book launch by Hyperion East of the English-language edition of his memoir The Mute's Soliloquy.
