Report from DC, April 8, 11

The booksigning at Olsson's, Metro Center, went quite well, with 70-80 people attending. Half, however, were probably too far from the monitor to read the subtitles of the Lontar film. Many people bought books, but a surprising number of book-collectors and others showed up with first editions or older publications for Pramoedya to sign.

The question and answer period was particularly interesting, and I wish I'd thought to bring a tape-recorder so I could post a transcript.

The Q & A at George Washington was a bit disappointing in comparison, marred by a couple of interminable and hostile questions, with softballs from sympathizers to make up for them. Pram, naturally, was unfazed.
