The Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest is one of the most popular races of the summer in the National Capital area. The event consists of the 8K race (including a wheelchair division) and a 1k fun run followed by music, refreshments, and a overall rockin' good evening. This is the 20th running of Rockville's summer night block party. (Check out our photo gallery.)

Course

The 8k course winds through neighborhood streets and around the Montgomery College Rockville campus. There will be a clock at each mile and the half-way point. The course will be closed to traffic,  marshaled, and monitored extensively, including course marshals, an emergency radio network, Rockville City Police, roving paramedics, and medical aid stations.  Water and medical aid are available at the start, 2 miles, 4 miles, and finish. See Course Map for additional details.

ChampionChip® Scoring

The race will be scored using the ChampionChip electronic timing system. You will pick up your individually-assigned chip with your race packet, and it will be collected immediately upon your completing the race. It is very important that you wear your assigned chip.  Open awards will be based on chip gun time, not net time. However, age-group and team results will be based on net time. Please see Chip Usage Instructions the Runner Instructions for additional details, including procedures for personally-owned chips

Awards and Random Prizes

100% cotton T-shirt for 8K participants. Cash awards and prizes for the top male and female finishers: first five open, top three masters (40 and over), and top three wheelchair. Prizes for the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups. Note that this year, the former 70+ age group has been replaced with 70-74, 75-79, and 80+ age groups, and a 30-34 age group has been added. All runners are considered part of the Open division.
