Q: How can I find out if I can get RadixDSL?
A: Contact RadixNet support at (301) 567-9831. We will pre-qualify you to see if DSL is available in your area. We will need the phone number where the DSL will be installed.
Q: How much is it?
A: The cost of RadixDSL is follows:
$120.00 Set-up Fee (includes a DSL modem, and a line filter)
$59.00 Monthly
Included with the above you will receive 10MB of disk space, five E-mail boxes and one static IP address.
Q: How long does it take to get the RadixDSL installed?
A: Installation time takes approximately 10 working days from the day an order is placed (unless there are any unforeseen installation problems).
Q: Can I use the telephone while online? And what if I have more than one phone on my DSL line?
A: Yes, RadixDSL utilizes line sharing technology which allows you to use one phone line for voice calls and DSL connection simultaneously. A line filter is required for any telephone being used on that same line. The filter allows DSL and voice frequencies to travel on the same copper pair which allows voice and data to travel along the same line. You will receive one filter with your RadixDSL account. Additional filters can be purchased for $20.00 each. You must install a filter on each phone that uses the same DSL line.
Q: Will I stop getting a Verizon phone bill?
A: You will continue receiving a bill from Verizon for your telephone service. You will be billed for your DSL through RadixNet.
Q: What if I already have a RadixNet dialup account? SLIP/PPP? Shell?
A: You can keep your RadixNet dialup account; or you can convert to a free DSL Pop-Email account.
Q: Who do I call if it doesn't work?
A: RadixNet provides all technical support for our DSL customers. Just call our support line at (301) 567-9831. Our technical support staff will answer all your questions, and place any service calls as required.
Q: What if I move? Keep the same phone number? Get a different phone number?
A: If you move or get a new phone number, you will have to cancel your current DSL line, and place a new order for a new line.
Q: If I already have a DSL modem (CPE) do I have to pay the same installation fee?
A: No. We will reduce the installation fee to $95.00 (instead of the normal $120.00) if the cpe is Westell compatible.
Q: Can you use one DSL line filter before a "Y" and plug two or three phones into one single filter?
A: Yes, that should work as long as the filter is still between the jack and the phone(s).
Q: Why doesn't my phone number qualify for Radix DSL service?
A: There could be several reasons why your telephone number does not qualify for RadixDSL service, including:
Distance from the telephone companies Central Office (CO) is one issue. If the distance exceeds 18,000 feet you will not qualify for DSL.
Another reason for not qualifying for DSL is that the telephone number is outside of the 236 LATA (this is the regional DC metro area, and suburbs in northern Virginia and Maryland, as well as 301 area codes in southern Maryland) for Verizon local telephone subscribers.
DSL requires copper facilities only. DLC (Digital Loop Carrier) indicates the presence of digital facility. Therefore, if your current telephone line is delivered on fiber, you will not be able to get DSL service. Load Coils (LCQ) present on the line may be another reason. Load Coils are used in some areas to restore call quality of voice phone calls over copper lines.
