First of all, I want to apologize to anyone who couldn't get in. I discovered the event was sold out too late to post the information. I'm told some 250 people were in attendance.
Amitav Ghosh read three well-chosen selections from The Mute's Soliloquy. The interview that followed (with Mary Zurbuchen, and John McGlynn interpreting) was more interesting than the usual q&a, but the q&a itself (with Rachel Cooper moderating, and McGlynn interpreting) was fine--though the questions were mostly similar to the ones asked in DC. Goenawan Mohamad's closing remarks were eloquent and well-received.
The reception was hot but 'ramai', and Pram again had to sign a ton of books.
Note to organizers down the road: he's cheerful, but beginning to show signs of fatigue, so please take it easy.
