Addition 7 September 2000:
To judge by email I get, it seems that many think 'notes' above means
that I've got something like free Cliff's Notes to send out. (Some also
seem to think that I'm actually a bookstore that doesn't charge. I'm not.)
Some
of the lists I have here include comments from the person who recommended
the books. That's what I called notes. If you want something longer,
a) I don't have it b) the books are on the list as a rule because I
haven't read the books, so I'm a poor person to ask and c) the books
are usually listed because they were recommended as enjoyable to
read, so you should read them and have that pleasure yourself.
