Zhong's Home Page

Tong Zhong is my professional name in Chinese (last name first), and most of my friends call me Zhong, though my husband prefers June and has spread it among his friends and family. I grew up in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, where I received my education through my Master's degree. I came to the U.S. in 1985 as a Research Fellow at IFPRI (International Food Policy Research Institute) and went on to finish a Ph.D. recently at the University of Guelph in Canada in Agricultural Economics. Now I am working as a consultant on agricultural development projects for FAO and the World Bank, and have to travel a lot. Luckily I enjoy travel very much, and appreciate the chance to do it as part of my professional work.

I was very active in athletics when I was young, and still feel frustrated when I don't have time to exercise. I swim, jog, play tennis, volleyball, pingpong, or if its too cold outside, stay fit with aerobics. When I need to relax, I read -- especially Chinese novels or stories -- and watch television or videos.
