Both net and gun times will be determined and displayed in
results, however, all awards will be based on gun time.
Wearing the Chip
You must wear your ChampionChip on your shoe in
order to be scored in the race and to be eligible for awards.
Runners who do not wear their chips will not be recorded,
scored, included in the results. See the illustration for a closer
look.
Be Sure to Wear YOUR Chip
It is very important that you wear the chip issued to you (or
your own chip, if you registered it). Be very careful
not to accidentally switch chips or bib numbers with friends,
family, or other runners. (It should go without saying
that any intentional switching of chips constitutes cheating, and
you will be disqualified.) So, check your chip and bib before
you go to the starting line. If you cannot run and wish to
transfer your number to another runner, see
Runner
Number Exchange. (See Runner's
Final Checklist for additional reminders.)
Chip Issuance, Collection and Chip
Loss Fee
You will receive your at ChampionChip at Chip Pickup on the
evening of the race along with your runner packet. Chips will be collected as you leave the finish chutes at the end of
the race. If you do not return your chip, you will be charged a $35
chip loss fee. Therefore, if after having picked up your
chip on Saturday evening, you decide not to run, or if you drop out
of the race, you need to bring your chip back to the Chip Collection
Area at the end of the finish chutes. Alternatively, you may
return your chip in the pre-addressed envelope that will be part of
your race packet.
Personally-Owned Chips
You may use your personally-owned chip, provided that you enter
its serial number in the place provided on the entry form. If
you have not done this, please go to the Assistance table at Packet
Pickup, and they will enter your number. If you do not have
your chip number in our database, you will not be counted among the
finishers nor be eligible for awards.
