Fun Run

For those who would like to participate in the event but are not quite ready to take on the 8k race, we have a 1k Fun Run. This is a low-key, un-timed race that enables you shorter-distance runners, champions in training, and kids to show your stuff -- or just work up an appetite. There is an entry fee for the fun run ($10 ), which does not include a race t-shirt. However, you will receive an official runner number, and you may partake of the post-race refreshments, drawings, and other activities.  (If we have t-shirts left over, we may put them on sale after the race -- but this usually doesn't happen.)

The Fun Run course is a simple out-and-back on North Washington Street. It will start a few minutes after the 8k runners clear the starting area. The Fun Run course will be well marshaled, so you won't get lost.

All Fun Runners should move to the the Fun Run staging area (see Fun Run course map) at the same time as the 8k runners are moving to the starting line.  To help you find the Fun Run staging area, there will be a small cluster of balloons at the east side of the North Washington and Middle Lane intersection. Be sure you don't get mixed in with the 8k runners, or you may find yourself running a lot more than 1k. (Don't laugh; it has happened!)
