Be a Volunteer!

| Why Volunteer | Before You Sign Up | How to Sign Up | Sign Up Online | Volunteer Info |

We need over 400 volunteers to conduct the Twilight Runfest -- most of them on the evening of the race, but we also have several jobs that need to be done at other times. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to help out. Not only will you be helping a good cause -- our charity beneficiaries and, of course, the runners -- you'll also have a good time yourself.  Just ask anyone who has volunteered before. If you have additional questions regarding being a volunteer, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sue Dembo, at 301-540-1399 or jacthom5@aol.com.

Already signed up? We have a special volunteers-only section of this website designed just for our volunteers. It should have answers to most of your questions, as well as telling you how to contact your team captain or other race officials.

Why You Should Be A Volunteer

By volunteering, you can help conduct one of the most popular races in the region -- and certainly the most popular of the summer. You will have an interesting, fun -- and important -- job, and you'll meet and work with a great group of people, often fellow members of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club -- a fun bunch if there ever was one! We appreciate our volunteers -- and it shows. Not only will you help put on one of the finest races in the region, you'll be getting something extra for your efforts...

bulletAnd, did we mention, a great time!

So, if you aren't running this year -- or if you have friends or family who can help out, sign up now.  You'll be glad you did.

If you'd like some additional information, read on; if you're ready to sign up now, just go right to our online volunteer sign-up form.

Additional Information for Volunteers

Here are a few additional things you should know before you sign up to volunteer:

bulletDon't volunteer if you aren't sure you will be able to be there. No-shows really cause great difficulties and will not be accepted in future years.
bulletVolunteers for race night (Saturday night, July 16 ) will be given preference of assignments -- that's when we need the most people.
bulletVolunteers must be at least 14 years old. Parents should not necessarily expect that children will be assigned to the same location.
bulletYou must be able to report on time and remain on the job until relieved.

About one week before the race you will receive a job assignment, reporting instructions, and other information. You will need to call your team chief to confirm that you will received the assignment and that you will be there.

Assignments

About one week before the race you should receive your specific assignment via email. Didn't Get It? - If you haven't received your assignment by July 16, first, check the Volunteers-Only section of this website to see if you're listed. If not, or if you have other questions, please contact our the volunteer coordinator, Sue Dembo , at 301-540-1399 or jacthom5@aol.com. One of the things you will be asked to do is to call your team chief to confirm that you have received your assignment -- and that you will be there to perform it. This call is very important, so please do it right away.

... and Thanks!

As a volunteer, you are the main reason that the Twilight Runfest has been such a roaring success over the years ... so, THANKS!
