This
page answers a number of questions frequently asked by
Twilighter volunteers. If you have a question that is not included
here, please contact your team
captain or our Volunteer Coordinator,
Sue Dembo at
301-540-1399 or
jacthom5@aol.com .

- Where do I report for duty?
- Where do I park ?
- How do I find my team
captain
- Why doesn't my assignment tell me
what I'm supposed to do ?
- Who is my team captain ?
- What is "appropriate
attire" ?
- Can I go to the food or beer
lines like the runners?
- When am I released from my job ?

Your volunteer assignment letter should have included a reporting
time and location. In most cases, it will be 6pm Saturday at the
cafeteria of the Executive Office Building (EOB). If you're still
not sure, contact your team captain.

Your best bet for parking is either in the Middle Lane lot or in
the garage on Route 28 (right across the street from the EOB
cafeteria. See the parking map
for details.

In almost all cases, you will meet your team captain at the
volunteer meal and training session at 6 pm on Saturday. In other
cases, your team captain should have told you where you should
report. If you have a reporting location other than the volunteer
dinner, your team captain will meet you at that alternate location.
If you have any questions, please contact your team captain.

You will receive your specific job assignment -- and required
training -- from your team captain. This most likely will be at the
volunteer dinner and training session.

Almost all Twilighter volunteers will meet at 6pm at
the EOB cafeteria. It's our way of getting everyone together, make
sure everyone gets something to eat, and providing necessary
equipment and training for your job. It is very important that you
arrive at the cafeteria well before the 6pm reporting time, since we
must get everyone checked in.

You should receive your Volunteer Assignment Sheet email about one week
before the race. It will have your team captain's name, phone, and
email address. Alternatively, you should be able to find your team
captain at the Volunteer Assignments
page. When you receive your assignment please contact your team captain
(email or phone) to
confirm your job assignment. This is very important.

Every volunteer will receive a unique volunteer t-shirt. Please wear this
t-shirt at your job on Saturday. That way, we can identify ourselves
among all the runners and crowd.

It is very important that you remain at your post until your team
chief or his/her designate has told you that you are released.
Remember also, that you may have a second job. If you do, please go
directly to that job. (You should have been given the reporting time
and location for each of your jobs.) When you are finally released,
please be sure that any equipment you were issued is returned.
If you are released and are willing to take another assignment,
please go to announcer's stand at the finish line and check in with the
volunteer coordinator, who will see if you are needed.

Yes, but only after you have been officially released from your
job. We ask that volunteers observe the "family hold back"
etiquette in deference to hungry, thirsty, sweaty runners; remember,
you've already eaten.
