Stir Your Mouse

This year, the holiday puzzle is interactive. Below is a grid, each cell of which can be activated by a mouse click. The clue for the word associated with the selected cell appears in a separate window. Type in your answer and click on OK, and all the letters in your answer (correct or not) will appear on the grid in the appropriate places. When you have filled out the grid, you must hunt for the beginning of an appropriate seasonal couplet attributed to Thomas Tusser. The phrase snakes around the grid, but only turns left or right when it hits an outer boundary or a previous bit of phrase.

I've checked out the behavior on Netscape 4.7 and 6.*, and IE 5.*, but browsers are ornery and I can't guarantee continued compliance. You must have Javascript turned on to play.
