Scrawling Crawlings

This year's puzzle may seem daunting at first, but the idea is simplicity itself. There are twenty-six two-word solutions, each one beginning with a particular letter of the alphabet. The pairs of words are anagrams, that is, the the first word may be rearranged to form the second, and vice versa. Each related two-word clue on the right reflects the meanings of its matching solution-words and the general meaning of the phrase overall. For example, the clue unwet walk might result in the answer DRIEST STRIDE.

All the solution words below are five letters in length. There are a few proper nouns.
