Jennnie Agnes Hogg
1859 - 1942
Jennie Agnes Hogg was born in Franklinville, August 9, 1859, the daughter of Wilson and
Agnes Reid Hogg, She was educated in the local schools and graduated from Ten Broeck
Academy in the Class of 1877. The entire class met in reunion after 50 years, in 1927.
She maintained such a deep interest in the Alumni Association that she seldom missed
attending its reunions.
For 64 years, Miss Hogg has been a faithful and devoted member of the United Presbyterian
Church. Believing the Missionary cause to be an important phase of Christian service,
Miss Hogg served the Women's Missionary society as its President for many years.
She held the presidency of the Women's Missionary Society of Caledonia Presbytery for
a term of years. Her faithful, active interest in the work of this society in all branches of
the United Presbyterian Church and her beautiful prayer life will ever be an inspiration to
all those who were associated with her. She was a life member of the Women's General
Missionary Society of the United Presbyterian Church.
Until the Sabbath before her last illness, she had taught her Bible Class which has met at
her home since January. We will miss her active interest, valuable counsel, sincere
friendship, faithful prayers and generous support. Her devotion to the Lord's House is a
challenge to us to strive to emulate her fine example of Christian living and faithful service.
Her consecrated life found expression in the words of the Psalmist: "Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the House of the
Lord forever."
Miss Hogg is survived by one brother, George T. Hogg of New York City; a nephew,
