Children of the Cross PreSchool

Children of the Cross PreSchool is a ministry and outreach of Lutheran Church of the Cross in Rockville, Maryland.

The goal for the preschool is to offer Christian education to the 3- and 4-year olds throughout the diverse community of Rockville and its neighboring communities.

The programs offered will provide students with an opportunity to grow socially, physically, mentally, and spiritually through a curriculum of developmentally appropriate activities. Daily, weekly and monthly themes will provide students with the foundation needed in order to enter Kindergarten at the appropriate time.

Children of the Cross PreSchool offers a weekly lunch-bunch program where sutdents can enjoy lunch together as well as extra enrichment activities. Through Children of the Cross PreSchool , Lutheran Church of the Cross hopes to continue to develop a positive relationship with the community of Montgomery County, Maryland.

Who is eligible to attend?

All children are welcome - you do not need to be a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross (although we always welcome new members!).

Parents of children with fall birthdays need to be aware of the new cut-off dates through the Montgomery County School System when determining the best class assignment for their child.

What is the cost of the Children of the Cross PreSchool program?

Tuition for the 2007/2008 school year is based on the number of days per week a student attends.

• 2 days - $165/month
• 3 days - $200/month
• 4 days - $255/month (4 year olds only)

A non-refundable $50.00 fee is required with the application to hold a child's place in the program. A month's tuition is due prior to the start of classes and will be applied to the May tuition.

Returning students will have a month's notice for the following year prior to new students being registered.

Didn't the church have a PreSchool before?

Lutheran Church of the Cross maintained a PreSchool from 1966 through 2000; the school went on hiatus when the PreSchool Director retired. We believe that with our new PreSchool Director and a stronger integration of the PreSchool with the ministry of the congregation, Children of the Cross PreSchool IS better than ever!

Is the PreSchool licensed?

As a religious preschool, we receive a Letter of Compliance from the Montgomery County Child Care Administration and are considered "religious exempt" by the Maryland State Department of Education. The church and preschool also carry appropriate insurance.
