Read at your own risk! Thursday 5 April 2001: Tim Stowell publishes a report summarizing Board activity from March 29 through April 4. [There has been no further activity on the call for nominations for the vacant mediator position. Apparently they have decided to blow it off until some other time.] === Reminders Corner: The Board will be accepting nominations for the three vacant Board seats until April 13. The open positions are: CC rep for the NE/NC region, CC rep for the SE/MA region, and SC rep for the NE/NC region. [We notice that the National web page has not been updated for some time. All three of the Board members who recently resigned still appear on the list of Board members, there is no sign of the mediation proposal that was supposed to be moved there, the election committee web info has not been updated to represent personnel changes, the EC's own web page has not been linked, and votes have not been updated since the end of February.] === "Secrecy in government has become synonymous, in the public mind, with deception by the government." ---Lawton M. Read at your own risk! Friday 6 Aoril 2001: Tim Stowell announces that "after careful consideration" his choice for the Board Secretary position is Sundee Maynez. [For those of you unfamiliar with Sundee, she works for the Archives --although Tim doesn't bother to include that among her credentials-- and is virulently anti-Census Project. Given that the Board has managed to chase off most of the handful of members who might object to such a partisan choice, her appointment to the position is probably a shoo-in.] === Fast Buck Corner: We've been told that advertisements for Ancestry.com have recently been appearing as taglines at the bottom of email messages sent through Root$web mailing lists. === "More history's made by secret handshakes than by battles, bills, and proclamations." ---John Barth This has been your Daily Board Show. -Teresa Lindquist merope@radix.net ------- Daily Board Show, (c) 2001 by Teresa Lindquist, all rights reserved
